Hockey Returning To Prescott Valley With New USHL Team

Hockey is set to return to Prescott Valley as the United States Hockey League expands into Arizona and the western United States.

The USHL announced Wednesday that Prescott Valley is among six markets selected for expansion, joining Phoenix, San Diego, Orange County, Simi Valley, and Northern California. The league is targeting the 2027-28 season for the launch of the new teams.

The expansion will bring the nation’s top level of junior hockey to Prescott Valley, giving the community a new connection to one of the leading development leagues for college and professional players.

The USHL expansion effort includes several major names in hockey, including Hockey Hall of Famers Luc Robitaille, Joe Sakic, and Teemu Selanne. According to the league, the move is designed to create more opportunities for elite players in the western United States.

Prescott Valley has a long history with hockey. The Findlay Toyota Center has hosted multiple teams over the years, and the sport’s return is expected to generate excitement among local fans and families. The Findlay Toyota Center is expected to serve as the home of Prescott Valley’s new USHL club, marking a long-awaited return of hockey to the venue.

The USHL currently comprises 16 teams and is the premier junior hockey league in the United States. The league is a major pathway for players advancing to NCAA Division I programs and the NHL.

League officials said incoming ownership groups will meet with USHL leadership in July to continue working through key details, including arena agreements, branding, and operational plans. Additional announcements about the Prescott Valley USHL team are expected as preparations continue for the 2027-28 season.

While several details remain before the puck drops, this announcement marks a major step toward bringing competitive hockey back to Prescott Valley.
