Students and movies are the perfect pair, so the location across from Harkin’s Theater makes it a convenient stop and easy to find. On nights when there are concerts or other events in the Entertainment District, the Welcome Center stays open late. Other businesses in the area like Garcia’s Restaurant and Gabby’s Grill also generate a lot of foot traffic. According to Marylee Brewer, program coordinator, about 50% of their visitors are High School seniors and juniors from the quad-city area. The Welcome Center can help with questions about programs including four year degrees at the Flagstaff campus, the online Personalized Learning program and the Yavapai Regional Campus in Prescott Valley.
Many of the Questions fielded by the Welcome Center are about NAU’s innovative program offered at the Prescott Valley Campus. The campus currently offers four degrees. They are all interdisciplinary programs and all focus on developing real world skills for today’s job market. It is especially flexible, while still providing the campus camaraderie and experience. All classes meet once a week with the class instructor, and have an online component. Major attractions of this program are the cost, only half the regular NAU tuition, and the fact that students can complete a bachelor’s degree in only three years.
New Executive Director of NAU Prescott Valley, Richard Heath said, “The Welcome Center also exists to try to keep the 5000 local NAU alumni connected to their alma mater and to answer any questions parents might have.”
So drop by the Welcome Center any time, check out the merchandise, pick up some brochures and have all your questions about NAU answered.
